Ken Smerz and his guys at Precision 3D Scanning met us out at Falcon Field to create a 3D scan of the Hermes Spacecraft. From their website: "Using laser technology, light is emitted from a stationary scanner. The time between the moment that light is released and the moment it returns is measured and used to create an extremely accurate cloud of data points. "
We'll use that point cloud to not only create great visual aids for our presentations, but even more importantly, model the Hermes aerodynamic capabilities via simulation prior to ever getting off the ground.
Thanks again to our friends at Precision 3D Scanning!
